As you probably know, a new CAA Act is being developed. The exposure draft includes many references to UAVs – they are not included in the current Act.
UAVNZ has organised for Ministry of Transport to provide a briefing on changes to the Act which impact on UAVs.
This is a chance for you to learn about the changes, understand what they mean to you and consider whether the ideas could be improved.
The exposure draft contains proposals around pilot in command (powers and responsibilities of UAV operators), changing definitions to improve reporting on UAV incidents and accidents, operator/UAV registration and an ability to detain, seize and destroy UAVs.
The briefing will be held from 1.30 to 3.00pm at the AirShare Office, Level 3, 3 Vernon Street, Auckland 1010 on Thursday 13 June.
RSVPs to: [email protected] by 9am Wednesday 12 June.
UAVNZ will be forming views on the exposure draft and your input will be welcomed.
The exposure draft is available: https://www.transport.govt.nz/air/civil-aviation-bill/
We hope you can attend.
